  1. colouration of the monarch butterfly.  The bright colours and high contrast tell predators its tastes foul.

    Some snakes such as the coral snake have bright colours to warn predators that their venomous.

    The warning signal: - secondary defense mechanism that warns potential predators of the existence of another primary defensive mechanism — "away signal."

    1) - could be colour: - sharply contrasting black-and-white skunks — the sickening odor OR brightly colored to frighten away — toxic skin

    2) - could be sound: - rattlesnakes, with their tail rattle — warn of their venomous bite

    - bumblebees use both sound and color to ward of predators — their warning color of yellow and black plus they also use a distinctive sound to broadcast their danger

    3) - behavior: -  cobras sit up, hiss and expand their necks — venomous bite

    - under behavior is mimicking - some flies, beetles and moths mimic bees and some snakes rattle their tail but are not poisonous rattle snakes — example the bull snake - are not poisonous - shaking their tail in leaves, producing a sound similar to a rattlesnake shaking its rattles
