Question:

Can yogurt manufacturers & the company Ensure, package their products using #1 or #2 plastic rather than #5?

This household uses many products with the #5 triangle stamped on the container. Our recycling center only collects #1 and #2 plastics. #5 plastics are apparantly more difficult or more costly to recycle. If that is the case, why can't manufacturers package their products using the #1 and #2 plastics?

  1. I think you're at the start of a mission. Take the next step, Green One, can inquire of Ensure, Dannen or whomever - they have customer service numbers/websites. Maybe you can help them change. Good luck.

  2. I have recycle yogurt cups and have no problem of recycling taking them , I dont see any difference with any plastic as long as they are all plastics . They recycle mental, plastic, cardboard, magazine, newspaper, and aluminum that is pretty much about it so far . Plastic only no machine in them . Just few hints what they recycle , I do not know for sure if they recycle egg carton forms but that shou ld be recycle any kind of forms  would be nice to recycle .

  3. there are companies that recycle these products, you just have to search them out.  #1 product is a polyester, #2 is hi density polyethylene, and #5 is polypropylene.  There are good companies in the valley that  recycle plastic.  Check them out
