Most of the fruit for sale in our local supermarket is waxed. We can't often find unwaxed, even in the organic shop, so my question is. Can the wax be removed at home before eating please?

  1. What the heck is waxed fruit?!

  2. Citrus fruits scrub them under the hot tap.

Other fruit be a little gentler with them

  3. Well I faced the same problem . Wht I do for fruits like apples & plum is when they are I dry I wipe then with kitchen towels or normal box tissues . Then I would wash them again & finally again wife them dry hand towel .

I guess running with slight rough surfaces twice helps  to get rid of the wax.

  4. normally i just peel off the skin.

  5. Lemons I pop in boiling water, then dry them just before using the zest.  ditto oranges if I'm using the zest

Apples, pears aso, just wash and hope...   It can't be harmful I've been doing it for years.
