  1. We all belong to the human race, even though people use the term incorrectly.  Ethnicity refers to a common bond, as the same or similar culture or genealogy.  Color seems to me to be an artificial way of separating people.  We are all more related than we are different.  Nationality refers to what country an individual originated from, because we are a nation of immigrants, except for Native Americans, incorrectly called Indians, because Europeans thought they landed in India, when they had actually reached America.

  3. Gato,

An easy way to think of it.

A man is born in California.

His parents are both from Mexico. They were born there and moved to America.

His race and ethnicity is Mexican or Latino.

His Nationality, if born in the USA is American. (Unless his parents requested otherwise, which i doubt)

    His color....? A difficult one.

    1. His skin color may be light, medium or dark. As a Latino, he would be called brown in American society.

    2. Even if he was born VERY WHITE, he may consider himself brown, as an attachement and loyalty to his "race".

MIxed children sometimes feel forced to choose their color. My son is 1/2 white (me) and 1/2 brown (dad from Guatemala). When he was 13 he told me, he was brown, that the world would always see him as brown and in fact, he preferred being brown. Its a complex issue when speaking or trying to define color, but I will say for the most part we still see people of color and consider their ethnicity.......right or wrong, it is the way it happens sometimes.

    Hope this helped.

  4. We all belong to the human family - emerging from one group that originated from africa!!

Nationality is how we charcterize ourselves with artificial boundaries in which we use the same language and set up particular social norms!!!

Race is just a differentiation based upon some general physiological characteristics such as skin , shape of eyes ,nose ,head etc. -but these are really expressions of environmental adaptations!!

Color is another one of those adaptations!!

Ethnicity is an expression that relates more to culture !! As in hispanic having ertain habits in the way they cook their food , what and how they celebrate their holidays , etc. It is more of a subset to race and nationality!! Many times we even interchange the terms to mean the same if not similar things!!
