Why did the Bears let Bernard Berrian go? I thought he performed quite well last season & was shocked to see they had let him go. I can understand Benson & even Griese, but Berrian? I thought they should have shown Grossman the door for his lousy performance the past 2 seasons. Sure made it hard to see who he was playing for at times, but anyway.....

THANKS!!!

  1. The Bears should give Mike Hass a chance to show what he can do!

PLAY MIKE HASS! The man catches everything!

  2. Im not a bears fan but im not sure why he was definately the best wr and maybe the best player in the shaky offense. and they should get rid of grossman maybe at some point they will get smart, they will have to do with hester.

  3. Okay heres the deal with Bernard Berrian

The bears CEO if you will said they wanted to keep him.

He wanted 42 million dollars , with a 16 million dollar signing bonus

Which would make him a top 5 paid wide reciever in the NFL , and he simply isnt worth top 5 reciever money.

He doesn't fit for the ball when its in the air to come down with it , he wont go over the middle and take a big hit to move the ball down the field , he only catches the ball when he has a step or two on someone , and hes fast , and he drops balls , and granted he is a good reciever no way 42 million dollars , were talking Lance Briggs & Brian Urlacher money , bears have traditionally won on Defense & Special Teams.......

  4. they should have signed him to a 1 year or 2 year contract and then traded him when everyone wanted him for a high draft pick like a third round

so wat u do is trade that pick and give a second round  of yours and  6th of yours and there is a first round pick

  5. The Vikings way overpaid for Berrian. He's good, but not that good. He got #1 receiver money, but he's not a #1 receiver. He drops too many passes to get that title.

  6. Yeah, 42 million is way too much for the Bears to pay, especially   And you have to remember that the Bears owners are super ultra penny pinchers.  They really don't have the quarterback to support a good receiver anyhow.

I think Grossman should have been let go a long time ago.  I'm not sure what Smith sees in him.  Heck, I'd have benched him if he was the starter for a college team.  He makes way too many mistakes.

Some examples of the Bears penny pinching:

Lovie makes it to the Superbowl, but he is the basically the lowest paid coach in the NFL with basically one of the largest two fan markets in the country.  And even after getting there they still didn't want to pay him more, although I think they did grudgingly.

Then they keep Grossman and Orten instead of getting a good quarterback in the draft.  I'm not sure if that is due to them being penny pinchers or Smith just being totally blind that he needs a better quarterback.

And then, with them having one of the top two markets I remember seeing an article where they did something to limit their income just so they didn't have to pay into the NFL sharing thing.  When you have one of the two biggest markets, that is being super ultra cheap.  They could afford some much better players on offense, they just don't want to put out the money for them.

I think the Cubs were the same way until they got Pinella.  Pinella made it a condition to him taking the job.  Pretty much he said: "You put out the money to get me some good players or I'm not taking the job."  I don't think the Cub's management would have put out the money, but they want to make the club marketable to sell.  And a team that is winning is much more marketable.
