I have had a nagging cough for a two weeks now! It doesn't get worse at night, it seems to stay just as bad throughout the day. When I cough my chest hurts. I have been spitting up flem but that doesn't seem to be helping. I have been taking Dayquil and amoxcicilion but those have minimal help if any. For a few days there was a lump in my throat but that went away. Whats been very weird is that my taste bud seem to not be working. I havent been able to taste anything! My friends said that it might be because of all the meds ive been taking. I have also beeen very sore but i think that might be from football. Any Ideas? please help!

  1. Sounds like a real nasty sinus infection.  That would knock out your sense of taste and smell for awhile.  Go back to the doc and see if you need something stronger than amoxicillin- I assume that you have been taking it for more than a week without improvement.

The  soreness can also be from having an infection, just feeling lousy.

Lay off the football and get some rest.  Your body is screaming for some time to heal.

  2. pneumonia?

It could be a lot of things. Does it feel like a cold? Do you have a sinus headache? Are your glands swollen? How is your apetite and bowel movements?

    Are there anyother symptoms?

  3. I can't tell you what it is I'm not a doctor. Go to webMD.com but take into consideration as to what you're doing during the day, like at work or school, that might be making you cough.

  4. It really depends, colored flem, with painful respirations, and a fever could be pneumonia or flu-like symptoms.  It could just be a respiratory infection that has not progressed to pneumonia.  Has your neck been sore as well, a stiff neck could indicate meningitis.

No one can really be sure without tests and x-rays.  It's probably best to see your doc, especially since its gone on for a couple of weeks.
