Hello all. I am a high school senior contemplating what to major in next year. I definitely am interested in environmental stuff. So far, I am thinking about environmental engineering and geology. I can't go into environmental engineering because alas, I suck at all those higher math classes. Now I understand the geology program requires high math classes aswell, but I've talked to a couple of people and they've said the classes are not as rigorous of course. Anyways, I understand that geology jobs are really hot right now, but there may or may not be good job prospects for geology in the future. Is this true? I really don't know. I want to travel the world and really make a difference and at the same time get a good salary. So, please tell me what the job prospects for a geologists is in the next 5-10 years. And if its bad, should i just pursue engineering?

  1. There are other environmental job besides engineering. The math is hard but get some help. look at classes through the teaching company-the great courses. If you want to be an engineer-go for it. Check out the engineering at CoolingEarth.org. You can do this. Colleges have tutors

  2. I definitely think you should pick the major that will bring you the most money and power. That way, in a few years, I can be giving you ALL my money and thanking you for making this world a better place for you and all your other socialistic buddies--oops, I mean a better place for the trees--to live.

  3. Have you looked into a degree in Environmental Science?  There is really not much math involved.
