Can you Reserve a hotel room with a debit card or pre paid debit card?

I dont have a credit card but i can use my parents debit card or i can get a pre paid one at walmart but can i use them to make reservation at a hotel? I know you need the card when you check in so i dont know if they would work since they dont have a name on a pre paid one and it wouldnt be my name on the debit one. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.

I don't know about a prepaid card but a debit card works the same way a credit card does as long as it says Visa or equivalent on the side.  So you can reserve a hotel with that, just used my debit card for that purpose today actually

yes they both work the same. as long as the hotel gets there money they don't care.

i book mine with a debit card had no problem

shouldn't be a problem, just as long as you have enough money for the transaction. They will probably check it before you arrive for you nights stay.
