  1. NO

  2. nope dont work

  3. If you have to add freon to the system you must have a leak in it. So you might as well convert it over to R134 after you have the leak fixed. But I have seen R134 put in a R12 system and it will get your a/c working .I dont know what the long term affects will be on the a/c system. Plus I would say its not a good idea to mix R134 with R12.

  4. not without a total conversion

  5. no, no, no!

  6. You cannot just add R-134 to R-12.  You can change from one refrigerant to the other, but it is a little complicated and costly.  However, R-12, since it has been outlawed, is also very costly.

Your best bet is to convert from R-12 to R-134.  There are several sites on the web to get some pretty good information on how to do this, but basically, you should remove the current refrigerant and dispose of it properly, flush the system and change the oil to an oil compatible with R-134, put in a new filter-drier, and then recharge the system with R-134.

If you go to a mechanic that specializes in this sort of thing, expect to pay from $500 to $1,000 for the conversion.  He will probably do a few more things than I have mentioned, but only for a little better reliability in the conversion.
