  2. yes, you can, however, WI has some of the tightest laws regarding relinquishment and adoption.

    All parental rights to the child must be terminated before the child can travel into the state, and if there is a hitch, you are stuck in the child's home state until it can be fixed.  

    That's where I got most of my grey hair.... waiting seven weeks in another state for permission to bring our son home......

  3. Mommy to squeeze is right.  I'm in wisconsin and you can adopt from another state.  A friend of mine adopted from illinois.  She had to stay down in Illinois until the relinquishment papers were signed and if there were complications you would have to stay in Illinois until it is resolved.

    Yes, wisconsin does have some of the strictest relinquishment and adoption laws that i am proud of.  I would encourage you to adoption in wisconsin b/c the laws here are better for every one involved.  Best wishes:)

  4. probably easier than adopting a kid in Wisconsin if you live in a nearby state. The workers don't seem to want to talk to us people in border states even if we were born in WI!
