Can you adopt a child if..?

If you can get pregnant, just don't want to go through it? Do adoption agencies ask?

Sounds kind of stupid, but the only people I ever hear adopting are people that can't have children.

There are alot of people who adopt when they can have children. Like infants that have been taken into foster care and stuff. People want to give kids a good life.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with adopting even if you can have children. its just that couples that can not have children and would like to usually adopt. if they ask you why you want to adopt just say that you would like to provide a loving, caring home for a child that does not have a good family that can provide them with all the things they need. this is not a stupid question at all. and dont adopt just because someone else does not think that you should. just do what is in your heart.

In some adoption programs, there is a requirement that you show proof of infertility and that you are not persuing fertility treatments.  In some adoption programs you must agree to withdrawl from the program if you conceive.  But, in most programs you do not have to have infertility to be able to adopt.

Hi there, Yes you can still adopt. I would ask yourself why you would specifically want to build your family  through adoption instead of through your own pregnancy. Being pregnant- trying to concieve, morning sickness, fatigue, etc. is just as beautiful as it is... well.. being pregnant. Adoption- applying, waiting, wondering, waiting is no easier. As someone who has had a biological child, and now waiting to adopt I would definitley say that there is no "better" way to build your family, but I would really look deep into your reasons behind it.

Angelina Jolie had a baby and is pregnant again and she adopted 3 children! Yes you can adopt if you can get pregnant!

Because most people want to have a biological child.  It is a scary expereince, but nothing like it in the world.

Anyone can adopt. If you dont want to have a chilf of your own then go and adopt. Its a great exprince. And its not a stuipd question. I do believe the only stuipd question is the one that never gets asked. Hope that you adopt and will be blessed by it.

There are many people who adopt that can get pregnant.....some do because they want to provide for a child instead of bringing another into the world and others may due to a genetic disorder they do not want to pass on to their children.

Different private agencies may have different requirements, and so, to some, this may be an issue.  However, you just need to try a different agency.  Or, better yet, adopt through the fostercare system, they have no such requirement.

Yes, you are allowed to adopt even if you can have a biological child. But it costs lots of money and takes a long time. I read of families who want a large family and have two biological children and adopt the rest. It's a very giving thing to do. It takes special people to be this giving to others.

Anyone can adopt if they qualify, but each agency and each state has its own specific qualifications.  Some agencies do require that a couple cannot biologically conceive or carry a child, and some do not.

Not to be mean with this, but on TLC'S Adoption Stories several moms have had babies and adopted at the same time..

There are no restrictions to the right to adopt on this that I am aware of!!

I know that there are couples that have adopted and they could have their own children- actually- I planned not to get pregnant, because the dr, told me that my health would not be good for a pregnancy- so we adopted- even though I could have had a baby

I know tons of people who have adopted, even though they have no reason to suspect that they are infertile.

And what does "can get pregnant" mean these days, with all the interventions, some more invasive than others?

I never got pregnant, and I ran some tests, but I didn't (wouldn't) go the whole 9 yards to get pregnant. Some people do amazing things to get pregnant, try everything. Some people have limits, everyone draws the line differently, but I decided very early on not to try anymore. I wanted a child. I didn't need to be pregnant necessairly (most of my first cousins were adopted, in my family it's so normal. My cousins were my cousins, no question about it.) But no one ever asked me for proof of infertility. I was told that if I got pregnant, I would have to pull my file. But I didn't have to be infertile.

But , yes, there are a lot people who know that they can get pregnant, who still decide to adopt.

You can adopt a child even if you can have children. I  listen to a couple in court say please don't give him back I can't have children. YEA right she's pregant now. She only wanted  for the father not to have his son.
