  1. As someone else has said, E-bay has its good and bad points.  It really is a good site for selling your old stuff and quite often you can make a decent amount of money from it, like you did.  If you want to buy something, bid sensibly and tactically (i.e. don't bid too early!) and you can grab a real bargain.

The only drawback for E-bay sellers is the fees you get charged.  You probably realised they charged you an insertion fee, fees for any additional photos, and then a final value fee which some online auction sites don't bother to do.  Some sellers are leaving E-bay for this reason and selling elsewhere, but the one advantage is that E-bay is probably onr of the best known auction sites around and therefore gets more visitors, bidders etc.  Basically, it's all swings and roundabouts, but it is possible to make some good money in getting rid of old, unwanted items.

  2. ebay can be fantastic for getting those hard to get items and selling items you no longer want so your recycling and get paid for it lol

  3. Its good and bad.  I was bidding on a car recently.  Won the bid, viewed the car and spoke to the owner.  Paperwork was all in order.  I did a check on the cars background just before payment was due and discovered the car had been written off by the insurers in Dec 2007, and didn't get repaired till June this year.

It pays to check as much as possible.  My checks saved me £3000.00p.
