My application for visa was rejected today because the validity of passport is less than 6 months. The expiry date of my passport is June 2008.

Is this rule the same in all embassies?

  1. It may vary from country to country. It may also depend on when you want to travel. If the visa you are applying for is for a period that extends past or very near the expiry of your passport it may well be rejected. You should renew your passport, and then re-apply for the visa on the new passport.

  2. if your application has been rejected because of the validity of your passport, have it renew now;

    most embassies do prone more than or at least 6 months for travel only,

    for visa? it will take more time of validity left on your passport,just have it renew,

  3. Most US embassies won't issue a visa in a passport that won't be valid for at least 6 months from the intended departure date,  not just the date of issuance. Most countries won't let you in unless your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter. If this application was at a US embassy, they should have put your case on hold while you renew your  passport. You shouldn't have to pay again.

  4. To the best of my knowledge when you leave your home country to go to another country you have to have a min of 6 months until expiry date on your visa.

    If you are planning to stay longer than the expiry date on your visa, you can renew it at the Embassy of your own country located in the country you are going to.

  5. Yes you can apply  for a visa using a passport whose date of expiry is less than six months.  However, you should be aware that some countries might not honor entry if your passport has less than 6 months on it.

    Since this is not the same of all countries, I suggest you check with the consulate or embassy of the place(s) you plan on visiting.

  6. almost all countries have this rule. you better have your passport renewed anyway it can be renewed even if it expires in June 08
