God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree...

He did not block their access to it...

They made the freely given choice to touch. Free will is the choice to do God's will, or your own.

Free will is clearly illustrated throughout the Bible. In the garden of Eden there was the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. There is a choice to be made. Look throughout the books of the prophets when God said they do not hearken unto me. They don't seek me, and rising early they choose to do wickedness because it is in their power to do so. Lets also not forget the scripture that says behold I set before you life and death, good and evil choose life that ye may dwell in the Lord your God will give to you.

Here are a few other verses.

Deuteronomy 30:11-20 (vs 19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live)

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command". It is a choice we make.

II Tim 2: 21 If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. 22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Again we are to cleanses ourselves and flee from things, which would imply a choice on our part.

I Jn 5: 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.

We use our free will to choose to carry out his commands.

The bible is full of the words - choose , choice and free ..Did Eve choose to tempt Adam with that fruit ..Indeed she did and did Adam eat after being enticed ..Yes! no one forced them . The list is endless of choices being made time and again in scripture and in life ..
