Can you ask God for forgiveness without a priest?

If I didn't verify it before, Can you ask forgivness from god anywhere, and not just in the confession box? I really don't want to go to the pit of h**l because I haven't been asking forgivness right.

when you pray ask god for forgivness im 16 so i have alot of forgiving to ask but after i do it i feel better and you cant just go do something bad and then ask for forgivness. you have to mean it and ask go d to help obey him better. so you can ask anywhere and anytime

you don't need a priest.  Jesus wants you to come to HIM and not another man.  Just pray (praying is talking) to Jesus and ask Him.  He wants to forgive you but you must ask and mean it.

Getting forgiveness from a priest is just what Catholics do. Most other Christians seek Gods forgiveness in their own time.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say God will not forgive you if it's not done through a priest.

Apologize to whomever you wronged, if possible...and then learn to forgive yourself. THAT is the key. The only h**l that exists is the one we create for ourselves here on earth, worrying about our misdeeds and how to right them.

Be the best you that you can be. Treat others as you'd want to be treated...that'll vastly improve your life and the pleasure you get from it. ☺

Of course you can. Only Catholics believe that you need to see a priest to ask for forgiveness. God listens to you no matter where you are and what you are doing. Scary thought, huh?

Church is a place of celebration.  A place to gather with other people and enjoy the teachings of the lord.

You can speak to god whenever and where-ever you choose.  You can pray at night for his blessing, guidance, and forgiveness.

God starts in the heart, not in the church.
