  1. Yes.

  2. You could test out at college and that would determine if you are college material. I have known people who have done this and graduate.

  3. I believe you can take courses as long you are not asking for a degree. There are programs like the adult continuing studies.

  4. Yes you can. I have been going to my College of DuPage now for 2 years. The last grade I have completed WITHOUT including college credits is the 8th grade. I never went to highschool and I do not have a GED. I had to take a test though to see where I fell in for certain classes like English and Math... Ect.. I actually failed those tests, the English one by only 2 points!! Anyway, I have to take under classes for those.. I don't get any credits for those at all until I complete them and move on. I also take East Asian History and I get credit for that and Humanities and a few more that I do get credit for. Some jobs though later on may not hire you with a GED.. although if you want a job like me, I want to be a pilot, the school I had talked to, Louis University in IL, said they would not make me go back in time to get a GED... I just need to get my Gen Eds done and move onto the college there! Good luck. Just walk into your school and talk to someone there and see what classes you may or may not be able to take and if they even offer those that you need.

  5. It depends on the school. Most have some classes you can take without a diploma or *** (you said not to mention GED). Call the registrar's office and ask

  6. You can take classes but you can't graduate.  If the fire tech program is not a degree program (just a cert program) then you can do it.  But just because you have the fire academy experience won't guarantee you a job if you don't have a diploma.  Most fire departments require at least a HS diploma and some college classes.  Also, be prepared to take an EMT-Basic course since alot of fire departments are combination EMS/Fire responders and they will require at least an EMT-B cert along with fire academy.
