Question:

Can you avoid speeding ticket points by overpaying?

I have heard that if you overpay a speeding ticket by $1 you can avoid the DMV getting the information and not get points. This works because the court needs to send you a check for the $1, if you don't cash the check your file isn't closed and the DMV never gets the information. Is this true?

  1. No, They will send your check back and you delaying your case closing ,so you may have a warrant issued for non payment of ticket.  I be live your paper work say send exact amount of payment.

  2. Sounds too easy - but possible.

I used to program computers and there were all those little glitches.  But it is also possible that only works on certain computer system (certain cities) - and it may have been fixed.

But I went with my father to a court for speeding.  We checked the points and penalty before we went.  We got to the judge the "prosecutor" wanted to know if we want to plea bargain.  We thought WOW - YES.

But when we walked out at the clerk, out points were lower, but they charged us more $$$ - they explained that is the cost of lower points.  b******s...

    Good Luck...
