Can you bathe a rat?

I always wanted a rat and wanted to know. thanx!

Yes, you can, but you cant do it a lot. And make sure you use shampoo made for rats. Also be sure to keep any shampoo away from their eyes and ears, because this may lead to an infection.

yes but they don't always like it but you usually might need to i bathe my rat once every two months use kitten shampoo. And make sure you read about bathing a rat first.

Uhmm..

I think so.. Because they're not like other animals, because i dont think they clean themselves that much. So i supposed you could. But not too often, just now and again!!

I don't suggest you bathing it by yourself. There is Small Animal Sand or Chinchilla sand thats great for hamsters/gerbils/rats/guinea pigs to remove excess oils.

yes u can. but be carefull. some rats dont like a bath and others do. People say not to get their ears wet as it can casue infection but i've seen manyn on youtube that are fine. I've tried it once with my 2 little monster lol and they dont mind it. It can be a bonding session in a way.

My friends hamster didnt run when he sprayed him with a water bottle so im sure a rat isnt much different.

Yes. I just run the water lukewarm and hold their back and belly under it, then use small animal shampoo and rinse. I never get their heads. They hate baths.

You can bathe a rat, but it's usually incredibly stressful on them and can sometimes be dangerous as stress can usually produce sickness in the rat.  Rats don't necessarily need baths (the groom themselves to keep clean) , and you should only bathe them when it is absolutely necessary, [i.e mites, really dirty, ect.]

no you should not bath a rat i have 4 rats of my own i got sand and put a little in their cage and it keeps them clean plus they clean them selfs everyday rats are clean animals u just dont see it but i recommend not bathing them but just get a little sand and mix it with their bedding and it will keep oils off as much as possibly
