Obviously, a flag waver is someone who espouses patriotism. How can one not believe in freedom of speech and still espouse their patriotism? It seems contradictory to me.

  1. the part i strongly dislike ( hate nothing)  is people who use very fowl language in public or on the front of their t-shirts.  girl across the street has a 2 year old and that girl loves the "f" word.  i just go in the house and shut the door.

  2. Yes.  They speak but nothing is really free!

  3. Yes, but why would you hate free speech?

  4. Is it free speech you hate? Or is it having to LISTEN to the free speech of others?

To answer your question, yes, I suppose you can.

  5. You could be a mass murderer and wave a Us flag.

  6. I love my country and free speech but  dislike fowl-mouth slobs in public!

  7. It is your ASSUMPTION that a flag-waver espouses patriotism.. but that is NOT necessarily TRUE.  Haven't you ever heard of the expression "hiding behind the flag"?  These are people who are cowards, they hide behind the "cloak" of patriotism, but when asked to stand up, fight, and defend their country, they cower and hide.

Now.. back to your question... yes you can be a flag waver and hate free speech...but you'd better be ready to LEAP OUT OF THE WAY of the tank headed straight at you, driven by a REAL patriot asserting HIS/HER right to free expression!!!

  8. It does seem quite silly, doesn't it?  Sometimes I don't think people even knows what it is to be a flag bearer.I don't think people love their countries as they should either.  You can't tell when someone is true and just following the  "in" crowd.Doesn't the Bible say something about a lost generation?  I'm not really sure about it.  I've heard it or read it.  I just don't know.  But we do seem to have a lost generation here.

  9. of course -- there are a lot of things i do not like about the united states (free speech is not one of them) and i still wave the flag!!

  10. It's only contradictory if you have a limited definition of the words & terms.

ANYONE CAN WAVE A FLAG...That's no guarantee they are patriotic.

We all have the ability to use FREE SPEECH & suffer the consequences if we upset any of the other people with what we say or if we break the laws of the land by using threatening language towards any other citizen.....that's why the courts are so overloaded in America!

People are going to jail in record numbers, when it is proven in a court of law, that they used words to try to get their way over or on another person & trampled their Constitutional Rights in the process of using that so-called "free speech"!

  11. People often wave the flag but have forgotten what it really stands for. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that you can offend others. You have to make your utterances acceptable by polite society. You can state your views and others can oppose them but you cant be vulgar or discriminate.
