Question:

Can you be a lawyer in the Uk?

I told my uncle I wanted to be a lawyer but he said I would have to move to the US to be a lawyer. Apparently you can only be a barrister or a solicitor in the UK. Is that true?

  1. "Is that true?"

    No.

Both Solicitors and Barristers are lawyers. In the US there is only one level of licensing for the practice of law, called a lawyer or an attorney. In England there are two different licenses - Solicitor and Barrister. Both, however, are lawyers.
