  2. Yes but you can't be an all pet Doctor just a dog or you could be a pet Doctor to a certain group of animals such as rodents, reptiles, etc.

  3. Sure, all types of animals need vets, you don't have to work with cats if you are too allergic, or if you can manage with allergy meds then there would be no reason not to work with cats.

I have a horrible cat allergy and worked in a shelter with cats.  It all depends on what is important to you.  I lived with Asthma attacks for the entire time b/c I loved the animals.  I also have pet cats.  I recommend starting allergy shots now if you are considering a career in vet medicine.  It takes 2 or more years to work and an allergist who is aggressive will let you get them twice a week.  They help.  I am about 2 years into mine and starting to notice a difference now.
