I'm 13 and my friend and I talk on the phone all the time. SO the phone bill was high because I was calling him and it was long distance. So he could only call me and now a month later the bill is still high. What can it be? Can you still be charged for incoming long distance calls? (this is a landline)

  1. The only way for you to get charged is if your friend is calling collect and you accept the charges.  Other than that you are not responsible for any charges on incoming long distance calls.  I would call your provider and find out what the heck is going on.

  2. No you cannot be charged for incoming calls on long distance.  Calls are billed by billing cycles, so what happened is you were billed for some of the calls on one bill and the rest on the next bill.  Different phone numbers have different billing cycle dates.  What you need to do is call AT&T and get on an unlimited long distance calling plan.  It is a monthly set fee and if you make lots of calls, it usually costs much less than regular LD calling.  Be sure and have your parents call.
