Can you be denied Unemployment benefits if you were terminated because of a compliance issue?

I was terminated because one of my employment dates on my application was off by about 11 months. The HR Manager told me that I could file unemployment and he wouldn't contest it but I am wondering if being terminated disqualifies you from getting unemployment. I worked at the company for about a month and that was the only reason why I was terminated.

  1. Since you were only employed for one month you did earn enough credits from that employer.  The reason why they won't contest it is because the unemployment benefits will not be coming from them.  The benefits would be coming from your last employer and depends on how many credits or quarters you worked.

You did falsify your application so in the future be more honest.  They do more extensive background checks now than in the past.

  2. Being terminated with cause, will disqualify you for benefits.

Usually, lying on your resume or applicaiton is just cause.

  3. Being terminated does not prevent you from getting unemployment, but it has to be due to no fault of your own.

  4. lying on the application usually can get you terminated, but that appears a bit extreme.  You should file and if they don't contest it, you'll get benefits.
