I was recently offered a job, I signed an offer letter, and my HR rep said I was clear for hire. Yesterday I got a letter in the mail stating my employment application was being denied. Am I still hired? No one has said anything to me otherwise. My new job starts on Monday and I need advice. I have gotten a user ID for my new computer and an employee number. If something was wrong don't you think they would have said something by now? Can they deny employment but still hired you?

  1. It's possible, if you're a foreigner and your employer actually gave you a letter of employment subject to the government giving you a work permit. If the work permit is denied for some reason, then your employer's hands are tied. You should ask him which is the party which denied your application.
