  1. Sure.  Being philosophical is a state of mine, but being in poverty is a state of money.

  2. Yes, definitely, more so than rich (people who pay income taxes). The wealthy really have a problem with philosophy...or religion!

  3. Yes, as long as you are not distracted or concerned about your lifestyle.

  4. Why not?  Anyone can see the world and comment on it.  This is basically philosophy.  It's not reserved for the rich, the poor, the white, the black, the fat, the thin, the men, or the women.

Philosophy is a basic part of everyone's life:  everyone must be, in part, philosophical, to deal with the many things that occur in their lives.  All must search for truth in order to live; lies ultimately lead to death.  Understanding is a human trait, and even those in poverty are human.

  5. most philosophers died poor...I don't really get your question. you think being rich makes you wiser? gosh, that's shallow!!!!

  6. Of course! That's where those ridiculous cliches like, "money can't make people happy" and "you can't buy happiness" came from.

  7. Of course, one can be philosophical while one is in a state of poverty. Socrates is, of course, the perfect example of a poor philosopher. That being said, however, as Aristotle noted, philosophy requires luxury. Meaning like most things philosophy is more easily done if one does not need to worry about the mundune things of life. A gifted few can be in poverty and still have a rich philosophical inner mental life but most will not. The saddest thing thing about poverty is that most of time it leads to a poverty of thinking, a poverty of the soul.

  8. You don't have to be rich to be enlightened and wise. I am kinda offended you asked that.

  9. usually poor people are more philosophical than rich people.

  10. The true difference between a poor man's philosophy and a rich man's is that a rich man can get his thoughts published in contemporary society!

  11. Ofcourse.  I, Ignoramus the Great, am a testament to such.  One can be in poverty relative to money, but rich relative to thought.

  12. Yes. Of course!

It's a state of mind. Has nothing to do with what you own materialistically.

  13. Of course, what would make you think otherwise?  Whether you're rich or poor, it's just dumb of you to even need to ask that question - not to mention prejudiced.
