  1. You're probably going to be in training for a year -- maybe more, depending on your branch and your specialty.

You'll probably be sent out and observed for six months more before you're "in."

If you're thinking about it for yourself, think about it. If you don't want to be special forces, don't go for it. If you do, then what difference does it make how long you're in?

If you're asking to see if somebody you know is (or was) special forces, quite a few get out after between four and six years. They train and train and train some more... and seldom (if ever) get an opportunity to use the training.

  2. It takes 1 to 2 years just to complete the Special Forces Qualification course. After that you have to give SF 2 to 3 years, so that including training you give 4 years of service. To many good SF soldiers doing their minimum time, getting out and going to work for Blackwater.

  3. I have a brother who is going into the ROTC after a year. That makes you an officer when you come out. So I don't think you have to wait that long.

  4. It has to be at least 4 or 5. Your Training takes 2-3 Years depening on what 18 Series you choose.
