  1. Well since your in the Reserves you made a good choice because in the Reserves they allow you to finish you courses before they call you out, but if you were in Active Duty then if you were about half way into a course they would make you drop it to serve.  But also with the Reserves, there is still less of a chance you will have to drop it because once you sign up in the military they still pay for all your classes but once you done you got to pay them a little money back.  But you can't make the choice to stay in the course or not once you've been called because once you sign that contract the Government work comes before the education work.

  2. Yes.  You can attend college until your reserve unit is called into active duty.  Which is very likely in todays reserves.  It is difficult to make any long term plans in the reserves because you have no control over when you will be called up and cant say no, or wait until the semester is over.

  3. Yes you can. This is the point of the reserves. \

Just understand that at any moment you may be activated to active duty and will deploy..

  4. Ideally yes.....realistically no. Things are not as rosy as the scum of the earth recruiters tell you. your first duty is always to your country when you raise your hand at the Meps station. If your unit is called into action school has to wait. Do plenty of research before you join and talk to ex vets that you trust. If you place your trust in a recruiter you will regret it.

Before anyone gives me a thumbs down I speak from experience. I love my time in service and would not trade it for anything, but recruiters suck. Bottom line. Good luck!

  5. Yep. The Marine's even have an option call the split-time reserves where you go to boot camp right after you graduate high school, then go to college for the fall & spring semesters, then you go to SOI (or your MOS school) the following summer. The reserves are generally there for people who want to pursue a college degree while serving. Sit down with a recruiter and discuss your options.

  6. going to college depends on when you complete basic training, and if you are training for something else after wards.  The time it takes to complete both trainings, could end up dragging on into your first semester of college.

The simple answer is yes, but make sure you time college correctly.

  7. What are you looking to do in the military? Be enlisted or an officer?  If it's the latter then you can go into one of the officer programs and technically be considered a reservist but you cant be touched til you graduate. Just an option...
