Can you be pregnant with closed cervix?

Question

i thought was pregnant when i didn't get my periods and i was 18 days late. was bleeding yesterday(with clots-night before bleeding started, i saw white mucus in chunks came out-i thought maybe the cervical mucuz plug broke??)

so went to er to check if i was preg, and miscarrying

they did urine test(neg) and check cervix(pelvic exam?) and said cervix is closed so u cannot be pregnant?

i have never been preg but trying since 2+ years now, am 31 yrs old.

please help me understand it more?

a closed cervix ment that you was not having a mc. If you were prego and bleeding, your cervix would be open and causeing a mc, and bleeding. But normally during pregnancy your cervix will be closed.
