  1. With hyperextended knees the most important thing to remember is to hold back a bit to prevent locking of the knees.

  2. I think you will know when it is time to pullback.  As you age, you may begin to feel muscle discomfort.  But, given your age that is a long time from now.  I think the important physical development issue facing you is your growth spurt in the 2 to 3 years.   If you continue a normal growth pattern between now and age 15-16 you should be in fine shape dancing at the college level.  Or professional if you are among the best of the best.  Still, I watched my daughter in dance class and her teacher was a 30 something woman who pointed out to the class that the body is the instrument of dance.  Maybe, all coaches make that point.  I remember it because some of the kids were just too heavy to be gaining very much from the lessons.  I guess I am a frustrated coach; but, I just want to remind you of your obligation to yourself to eat healthy.  Which I am sure you will do. BTW:  I sent my daughter to four  weeks of dance school in Budapest, Hungary.  She was too young at 12 and being from a rural area to enjoy the cultural experience.  See ate at McDonald's and I realized that I had failed to work on the total girl in developing her to live in the dance world.  I hope your parents do a better with helping you.   I guess it comes down to how excited you remain with the work of dance.  It should bring you great enjoyment and some great opportunities to learn and teach other dance students. Good luck with your future.

  3. i would like to see some pictures of this extreme flexibility :)

  4. i'm the same way...i know that some of the stuff i can do puts extreme stress on ur joints..but i dont know that it can hurt me unless i dont do it proper. Flexibilty is natural to some and dance just improves it so i dont c ne probs w/ it. = )

  5. if u keep on doing what are doing now, i mean keep exercising and keeping urself fit i dont it it will hurt u in future..but if u drop you activities it might........

  6. You can't really help if your hyper extended. So don't worry about that:)   And being really flexible is good for dancing and gymnastics, but I think as you get older it hurts your back. But don't worry it's not everyone!
