  1. Not sure about nursing, but you need a squeeky clean police record to be a licensed pharmacist. Obviously pharmacists work minute by minute with dangerous and legally controlled substances, so anyone with any kind of criminal record is not invited to that party. Obviously this does depend on exactly what kind of offense you committed. I agree that if it was drag-racing at age 17 you are probably OK once you explain it.

  2. Depending a what type of misdimeanor it was, of course.  You have to pay when taking your boards to become to become a nurse to have your finger prints done & for an FBI background check done.  Mine showed a supended license from 4 years earlier.  I had to write a letter desribing what happened, get the info. about the release of charges from the Sec. of State, & get the police report from the police station that I was arrested at.  The issue was titeous, but not impossible because I am a nurse now!

  3. A lot would depend on the conviction and when it was. In order to get a license you need, in theory, no criminal convictions. If your conviction was traffic related like alluding, drag racing, or reckless driving then it might not be taken into consideration.

It may be possible to get a license but have restrictions put on it such as no work with narcotics or not able to handle Schedlue I or Schedule II medications. Best thing to do is book an appointment with a lawyer that specializes in professional competency or agency (government agency) law for some advice regarding the conviction and its impact on your ability to get a license.
