I heard that you can go to ROTC and become an officer, or by taking college classes. Is this true? sounds alittle too easy to me

  1. Most officers never serve a day in the enlisted ranks.  For instance, graduates of west point are commissioned upon graduation.  ROTC is the same.  Some few, very few, officers come from the enlisted ranks and get sent to special programs. Such officers are known as mustangs.   Enlisting in the service greatly DECREASES your chances of ever getting a commission.

  2. Yup if you have a college degree. Ask a Navy recruiter, they will be able to tell you the details.

  3. yea if you get a college degree then join the military you go and apply to get into the military and if they accept you - you will have to go through training and then you will be an officer

  4. You are tendered a commission by the President as a military officer. So, you have to be in the military. BTW, I would like to know where you heard otherwise. I ask this because so many questions on here have the qualifying phrase of "I heard  somewhere", etc.

  5. Uhhh... an officer of what?  You go through college and participate in ROTC... and then, after you graduate, you have the right to apply to attend Officer Candidate School.  Once you pass OCS, you may be offered a commission as an officer in the military.  Not all who complete college and participate in ROTC are accepted to OCS, and not all who pass OCS are offered commissions.  It's highly competitive, as it should be.

  6. Duh.

  7. Its true..West Point for example..you can come out an Officer.....Depends on how smart you are....HUGS!!

  8. No.

You are not an officer until you join and get your commission.  In ROTC they may call you a cadet officer,  but that is not the same thing.

  9. No.  You have to be dumb from the beginning.  There's no way anyone could go to post-secondary school and then decide to join the military.

  10. COLLEGE ROTC DOES OFFER CURRICULUM WHEREBY YOU DO HAVE TO SERVE IN THE REGULAR MILITARY SERVICE AND DO ENTER THERE AS AN OFFICER.

  11. You will not be an officer in the ilitary until you complete college and join the actual service.  You a cadet when you do your otraining or military duties with the active service.

  12. You wont actually be commissioned until all your schooling is complete.
