Question:

Can you believe how low Benitez has gone to secure fourth place to concentrate on the Champions League?

He knows that Arsenal,Chelsea and United will be competing for the league so instead of actually trying to compete, he has accepted fourth spot.

How? He has destabalized the competition. The three threats to him are Villa, Everton and Spurs. By manipulating the players on those teams he has as good as bought fourth spot.

Everton are out of the plan because any transfer via Liverpool/Everton will not be well received by the fans.

Benitez went after Barry just so that he could unsettle him. Rafa has no intention to buy him. Now nobody wants Barry, not even Villa. Barry was arguably one their best players and they will suffer without him. He lines a bid and then claims to not have enough and then blows 20 Million on Keane.

Robbie Keane would not be unsettled at Spurs because Spurs fans have not really promoted him to Legend status yet so the only way was to sign him and Benitez has done just that (probably ruinding his career in teh process) How many goals did Torres score away from home? 3. Hardly a good return for a 'top' striker.

That was really underhanded by Benitez and he doesn't deserve to be respected anymore.

  1. You need to get out more mate this is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever read in my life. So from what I read in your silly rant is we try to manipulate Everton players but then again we don't. I am pretty sure Rafa does want Barry it is not him it is the board who find the money and sanction the bids he would have had a list Barry and keane would have both been on it the board would have so far sanctioned the signing of Robbie Keane. Yes Torres scored three goals away from home in the league not all competitions how the h**l can you say he is not a top striker he was second top scorer.

  2. good joke but where's the punch line....

didn't quite understand how we've destabilized everton  --  care to explain??

  3. I am mildly amused. Your drivel is reasonably better than that of many other users.

  4. I have never seen such drivel. He bought fourth spot ? lol. All I read in your question was 'I'm trying to be controversial, is it working?'

  5. Your Answer:

Well formulated view but too much speculation there for me to believe it. I don't think Rafa would spend £20M to buy Keane with the sole purpose of unsettling Spurs. The flaw in your argument is that Spurs now have an extra £20M to spend and Ramos is capable of attracting quality players.

As for the Barry saga; Benitez did what all the top hypocritical managers do and that is show an interest in players that he wants. O'Neill didn't like it but by digging his heels in over a few million, has made matters worse.

What clinched it for me though is your reference to Torres. I'd suggest that for £23M a first season of 33 goals is about as good as you're going to get. I'm not sure who you support but I'm hazarding a guess that you would jump at the chance to have him in your team.
