Obama hasn't sounded like a Democrat since he secured the nomination. I was feeling so disillusioned with him lately as he's running to the right. Any other liberals out there feel like he has kind of redeemed himself with that speech?

He attacked trickle down economics.

He invoked FDR.

He reminded us that we all rise or fall together.

I'm so happy! It made me feel so... patriotic!

  1. Left - Central? Wow have you seen his voting record. I think he is hoping it doesn't get out. He is the most liberal in the senate, even more then sen. kennedy. He might say things to get people to vote for him, but if you want to know what he will do just look at what he has done in the past. God help us if he wins.

  2. Yup!  He chooses his shots well. The man is smart.

  3. I liked the speech. I noticed he used a few more Lincoln lines, which I actually love although it is gimmicky.

I feel really good about Obama right now. Of course I would love a more liberal candidate, but an actual liberal would never get elected in the U.S. Don't fall for Republican propaganda - Obama is not some radical socialist, he is left-center, always has been and always will be. Obama is still pretty d**n good, though.

  4. Happy?  Patriotic? I'm feeling queasy!

Well... if he's "finally" sounding like a libbie, that's GREAT!  Now we can actually hit him for what he is... more liberal than the socialist senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders (and that's a fact, m'dear, by comparison of their voting records... his was MORE liberal than Sanders!!!!).

    Have a right-wing day.

  5. Are you serious.

Should we rise or fall together like Russia did?

He is the furthest thing from the right.

  6. I thought he made a very very moving speech.  I'm a progressive and I realize he isn't running as a progressive but I loved his message and I know many progressives, including myself, who agree with him on many issues and how to address those issues.  I know many leftists who were not happy with his address but I think they are full of c**p.  Obama did great tonight.  I think he did run on his convictions of finding solutions to our problems in this country and reaching across the aisle like he has done in the past to get things done.  I came away feeling very patriotic as well and extremely hopeful about the future if he is elected because of the ideas he talked about.  I think this would have been a very very fun convention to go to.

  7. SAME OLD DEM. B.S. AS THE LAST 20 - 30 YEARS OF PROMISE WITHOUT DELIVERING . SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WAY OF SAYING IT .BUT DON'T THINK THAT " PIE-IN-THE-SKY " IS FOR REAL -------IF HE DID ALL THAT HE SAID WE WOULD BE TOTALLY BANKRUPT FOR SURE ------IT WOULD MAKE THE COST OF THE WAR LOOK LIKE CHUMP-CHANGE .

  8. i agree with you 100 percent, i felt the same way too once he became the nominee.  It seemed like his general election messages disappeared, but they came back tonight ;)  Guess it was sharp tactics to keep pulling in new people while not losing his base, we shoulda never doubted his abilities as a leader.

  9. Yes.  He was playing to the home crowd tonight; he could be as liberal as he wanted and do no wrong.    When he takes up the campaign trail in a couple of days the centrist rhetoric will be back as he pitches to the rest of the country.    If it makes you liberal guys feel better though, he really doen't believe it.   He's really a liberal at heart and is just marketing himself as the centrist brand to have more voter appeal.   As one answer said, if he ran on his own convictions (as revealed by his record-all the way back) he could never be elected.
