  1. You just posted this a second ago, give everyone some time to write out an answer.

The answer is yes, there are plenty of vegan bodybuilders. In fact there are so many that if you google "vegan bodybuilders" you'll get 170,000 hits. If pursued correctly it's an incredibly healthy lifestyle which appeals to many types of athletes.

Vegans eats everything but animal products. If you take a look at the food pyramid you'll see grains, bread, pasta, rice, fruits, vegetables, legumes, soy products, and nuts are all vegan.

  2. depends on how much protein you can get from legumes.

  3. yea.. google vegan bodybuilders.

  4. It will be extremely hard...since protein is what muscle is composed of and vegan diets are not ABUNDANT in complete proteins.

The answer above mine is wrong when she says that ROIDS alone are responsible for bigger bodybuilders. While it is true that the massive bodybuilders we see today in magazines are on steroids the MAIN REASON they are bigger today is because of scientific and nutritional education. Jack Lelane didn't have as much nutrional knowledge back in his time as what is available in just a magazine or book today.

Plus, look at how small those vegan "bodybuilders' are....they have very little MASS and just really lean.

  5. Yes.

Remember, most pro bodybuilders are on roids, so forget looking like them.  Think back to the pre-roid bodybuilders, and you can look like them.  Jack Lalanne was nearly vegan, and still is today; he says the only animal he eats is fish, which he started eating later in life.

Anyway, there's always the http://www.veganbodybuilding.org/ site to look at.  They are really into protein this and protein that, but I say that protein is not the key to muscle building, but nobody listens to me, because I do not write articles in muscle magazines which of course sell page after page after page of protein products and articles etc.  All of their protein eating is merely fuelling the placebo affect in their mind.  That's my take on protein, as you will find that amino acids and protein are basically found in every living thing on the planet, and easily found.

  6. http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/

These guys can help you.  They've all got different vegan dietary philosophies, but they're bodybuilders!

The site also has cyclists and other non-bodybuilding athletes.

They have forums to help you get started.

One of them lives in my city.  I see him all the time - short, ripped guy.
