can you boot an xp or vista from a memory stick on a hp pavilion zd8000

  1. No u will not be able to boot from a mem stick as the comp has to first recognise the drivers which it usese to run the device.

    this drivers can only be recognised when the pc has fully booted to windows

  4. You can with this model. If I remember correctly, the USB stick has to be plugged in first. Then you go to the BIOS settings and you'll see an extra option under the boot order preferences (something like "external", I think) I forget exactly what it said, but it definitely works. If it doesn't work, try an external hard drive.

    Whoever said the computer needs to go into windows to boot from USB doesn't know squat.

  5. it really depends on the motherboard that you have. some motherboards supports booting using usb.

    you can do this by setting up the boot sequence in the bios.
