  1. Ask the airline - what are the costs of all your luggage in total. It might be cheaper to buy another board (or rent) once you are in Puerto Rico instead of sending your board there and back.

OR - check with sending it UPS or FEDEX.  You can ship them back home from both places near the San Jaun airport.

  2. It will cost you extra, but you can bring it. I don't know who your flying with so, I can't tell you hom much. But go to the Airline's website and it will tell you or call the airline. here's an example of what Northwest's site Surfing Equipment

Northwest accepts surfing equipment as checked luggage only. Surfing equipment is not included in a customer's free luggage allowance and is subject to a charge of $100 USD each-way per item. Surf equipment may not be accepted on certain types of aircraft at Northwest's discretion.

One (1) piece of surfing equipment is defined as one of the following:

One (1) surf board with a length no longer than 109 inches (277 cm)

One (1) windsurf board with mast, boom, and sail

Northwest does not allow surf equipment in free luggage allowance. All surfing equipment will be charged a rate of one (1) excess bag charge.

    Domestic fee: $100 USD / CAD / EUR each-way

    Trans-Atlantic travel fee: $150.00 USD / CAD / EUR each-way

    Trans-Pacific travel fee: $130.00 USD / CAD each-way

Between Hawaii and Japan: $84.00 USD / 16,200 JPY each-way

Between US and Philippines: Contact Northwest Reservations for rate information.

  3. NO! Leave your boogies in your nose where they belong.

  4. Your board is probably too big to be taken as carry on so it would be checked as baggage and right now airlines are charging for everything so be prepared to pay for it.  If you are staying at a hotel - call ahead and see if they have any for rent - most hotels do or will recommend a place where you can rent from or even purchase when you're there.  Lots of tourists do that here (Hawaii).

  5. No you can't bring anything that stupid on board.
