Can you bring back a live specimen over the US/Canadian border to keep it as pet?

we dont have for example scorpions in canada so one day my desire is to take a road trip down to california or nevada, capture some scorpions, bring them back to canada and keep them as a pet.. does the border inspect things like this? how will they find out?
