I'm just trying to find the most recent information on this topic. I'm going to fly soon at the end of July so I was curious if the rules changed.

  1. It would be best to check with your specific airline, but generally yes, you can bring food onto airplanes, as long as it isn't liquid. So bring your sandwich, but only take an empy water bottle and fill it up at the drinking fountain after you have gone through security, for example.

  2. Yes, you are. What you cannot do is bring liquids, like bottles of water, through security.

But any items purchased past the security checkpoint can be brought onto the aircraft.

  3. The short answer is yes, with certain exceptions that you cannot bring from home because they won't clear security..  Jams, jellies and the like are subject to the liquid requirement.  You might also get grief for something like peanut butter (I've seen it happen).

Anything purchased in the airport is fine.

Courtesy note:  Be nice to your fellow passengers and don't take food that is strong smelling...  Two flights ago someone brought some cheese that had an odor not unlike overripe sneakers.  And in a small space like that it LINGERED.

  4. you can take food but it MUST be bought AFTER you go through security. Once you pass the security checkpoint you are free to bring food aboard!
