Can you buff (polish- NOT wetsand) the basecoat before applying the clear coat to a car/truck?

  1. You can do that.The matte finish on the basecoat is like that to help the clear coat grip to it better.You need the base coat to be a little porous so the clear isn't just sitting on top with no microscopic ridges to hold it on.
