Question:

Can you build your own apartments on sims 2 apartment life?

I just bought the game yesterday, so I haven't been able to explore it fully yet. But it seems that you can't build your own apartment, but that you have to use the ones in the house bin. Any help on this? Or would you just have to use a "claiming door" inside the house?
