  1. maybe if you are an engineir

  2. Check out pinhole cameras. They are pretty easy to make, but you will need access to photo chemicals.

  3. yes

  4. personally, no.

  5. you rpolly can. but it'll take you a long time.

  6. You can build anything if you have the money and materials.

  7. Of course, people have been doing it since camera was invented.

Easiest to play around with is a pin hole camera. Some really nice photos from a simple pin-hole camera.

The camera is the easiest thing to make, because it just holds and rolls the film. It is manufacturing a good lens that is very very very difficult, time consuming and tedious. I made a lens for a telescope for my astronomy project once. Believe me, just buy the d**n thing. With technology today, it doesn't make sense to re-invent the wheel. If you want, buy a selection of lenses, then you can try to configure them yourself.

I get old cameras and video cams people throw away and reuse the lenses and some CCD sensors to make my own stuff. In the end, it is just fun to play around with it, but more practical to just buy a working one for my interest in cinema/photo-graphy.

The one thing I found useful was to make a mount to fit my telescope and microscope for a CCD camera. I use a toilet paper center roll and a film canister. I can record or capture the images on my PC or VideoRecorder. It works pretty well. It cost a few hundred bucks to buy the proper mounts.

  8. there are stores with camera parts so yep i guess so.

  10. of course ! anything is POSSIBLE . you could also make a camera to act like a taser from what i've heard :)

  11. Actually, Leica will let you "build your own Leica" for MP & M7. But it's gonna cost you sweet dollars.

I can't image a dSLR if that's what you are talking about. A pin-hole camera, perhaps.

  12. you can.

    it's actually very easy.

i did it on a field trip once. we made a really simple camera, and took a leaf, and got that.
