Can you burn a cd on a laptop if you have a dvd player on it?

If you can, How do you do it?

No you cant. You will need to have a Cd writer or a DVD writer to do that. Most of the laptops that come today have a dvd writer. You can check the manual or the internet for the specifications.

You can IF THE DVD IS A BURNER.  But not if it's just a player.

If it's a burner, you can burn a CD using Windows Media Player or many other media programs that allow burning, such as Nero or Roxio,  Pretty easy to follow their on-screen directions.

Most laptops can burn cds and read dvds - have you tried burning anything ? it will not find the device required for burning the cd if it doesn't have the ability to burn the cd.

Firstly you got to have a DVD+/-RW to burn DVD's... If you have one then you need to have a burning software for lot of options. Something like Nero or Roxio or Sonic etc. If you have these softwares and the DVD burner. Then you can burn.

If it's a DVD writer that you have, it will also burn a CD. It should automatically detect the type of media it is. So if you insert a blank CD, it'll know, and allow you to write files to it.

But if you can find out the exact model number of it, edit your question to add it, and I or someone else will be able to check the model number to see exactly what it can do.

Generally on laptop you would find the writer so Yes you can burn CD from there secondly, In order to write a CD you would need to insert a blank disk into it and then put the item which you want to see on it by dragging and droping into it and then once you done with drag and drop then on the left hand side you can see an option which says "write these files into CD" once you click on it, it will start writing the CD/.
