Can you burn a saved DVR program to a DVD?

I have an HD DVR from Comcast in New England, and have some stuff recorded on it that I'd like to put on a DVD, or on my computer. Does anyone know if this is doable, and if so, how to go about it?

Thanks for the help.

  1. my dvr has a usb port on it that you can connect to an external hard drive.  when the dvr notices an external drive a menu popped up and it gave me the ability to copy from the dvr to the hard drive.   then just burn the dvd from your computer.  My dvr is made by scientific atlanta

  2. well im sure there are many ways to do that, but ill tell you the best thing i can think of and know. once upon a time i had to turn my vhs tapes into dvd's. i did this by buying a dazzel video device and hooking it up to my computer. the dazzel allows you to plug in the yellow white and red cables in so it streams to your computer and saves it as an iso image (iso images go on dvd's cant just put some mpeg4 movie on there). and one cool thing is you can press play on the vhs and press record on the program (keep in mind that you have your dvd in your pc) and it will convert analog to digital and burn to dvd... YEA! anywho in your case its from a dvr not vhs. now not really sure about the hd part, i think its still in the same area of tech stuff. you probably need a computer that can handle hd video and have a blue ray burner or something along those lines. but if its normal video and not hd then just hook the dvr output cables to the input of a dazzel and it should work. then it will transfer on to your pc and you can use a program like dvd decrypter, and img burn.... but if its hd... dont really know if theres something like that for something like the dazzel... sorry... but hey tech changes every day, im sure in a few months theres something that will turn up

by the way just a heads up dvd+r is 2 hour video or less depending on quality dvd+r dl is 4 hour or less so depending on what you got... but once again not sure about the hd thing, dont have any idea how much more memory hd takes more than dvd. my guess is alot more sense blue ray movies are like what one blue ray equals 4 or 5 dvd's? good luck tho hope it helps (sorry for spelling errors)

oh and um check youtube and just search around, youtube is a great place for tech help videos for projects like that (dvd burning)

  3. Cucusoft Video to DVD Creator is a good choice. It converts popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, DV, VOB to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable or home DVD player. Any video to to VCD/DVD/SVCD is even faster than real-time.
