  1. That depends on where you live.  In some locations they are illegal to keep, however, in most places, you would be just fine.  A local pet store that sells small animals should know if you can have them in your area or not.

  2. African Hedgehogs are bred and raised as pets. Make sure the one you buy has been hand-raised, this makes them less fearful of people. Also, ensure you are feeding food that is healthy for your hedgehog, not all foods are created equal.

    Good luck,

  3. Yes, you can buy a hedgehog for a pet, but I wonder if anyone can take a good care of them, since they have sharp erectile bristles mingled with the fur...Thats why I don't like growing cacti (plural of cactus) in my yard..

  4. Yep, but only the African Pygmy species has been domesticated. Before buying one, keep in mind whether or not they are legal in your state. They are certainly not low-maintenance pets, so you will need to do a LOT of research before considering to get one.

Edit: Nick; unless your hedgehog is angry or scared, it's quills will lay flat on its back. And when they are up, they don't particularly hurt..

  5. Yes! Of course! I saw some the otherday at  my local pet shop, they are so cute!

You can buy one for a pet, no problem.
