Can you buy anything online on any website w/ a debit card?

I'm considering getting a debit card over a credit card for two reasons: It's easier to use and to buy things online. I'm not completely sure if you can make purchases online with one thought. I'm wondering if you can and if you can do it on all shopping websites or only on certain ones.

unfortunately most websites do not accept debit cards

Fortunately  you can use pay-pal for sure that works almost like a debit card

You can use a debit card to buy things online, but with a debit card u don't have the same protection as a credit card.

As long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo, you're good to go! :-)

I use my debit card for everything. It will help you with spending within your means and not paying interest!

It depends on what kind of debit card you are talking about. If it is only for getting cash from an ATM, you will not be able to use it to buy things online. If it can be used like a credit card, and bears the logo of a major credit card company, you will be able to use it to make online purchases.

About the only thing you can't do with it, in fact, is rent a car or initiate any other transaction in which a company wants to place a "hold" on your card. This is rare, and usually only happens when you are borrowing something of great value.
