  1. Your friend is partially correct.  Budějovický Budvar is a Czech brewery which has produced and marketed a beer they call Budweiser Budvar for over 100 years.  This name is copyrighted and trademarked throughout the European Union, and although Anheuser-Busch can sell its other beers under whatever name it wants in Europe, it cannot use the Budweiser name.  In some countries you can buy it as simply "Bud".

Here's a bit more on the name game.

  2. I'm not sure but I do know the Guinness Brewery distributes Annheiser Busch (Budweiser)  products, so maybe that'll help

  3. Yes, it is available.  Not everywhere, because it's just not as popular as you may think.

For example, in England (and most of GB) you will find Budweiser quite frequently.  In Germany or France, it is not a strong brand at all and you will truly have to search for it.  Just to give you a feel for sales in Germany:  in the US Budweiser (red label) probably sells about 75 million barrels, in Germany they sell 3,000 barrels of the re-named product "B".

  4. Yes but you should try Budvar, it's really good! (Better, in my opinion.)
