Can you buy cake mix in rome?

i want to send my sister-in- low a recipe for making pineapple up-side-down cake. using using a white cake mix. if you want the recipe i well give it to you by asking another question.thank you sandra

  1. I guess that a good cake mix for a pineapple up-side-down would be "torta margherita", it's a plain cake to which you will be able to add the pineapple (you will be able to find it in many grocery stores in Italy).

  3. you can buy cake mix but it's different here it's not the same as the ones from the US

    she can try to look for it in Rome, they have a GS store near Republica metro stop and sometimes you can find different imported items there, but not very likely.

  4. Well, I'm sure you can buy flour, eggs, sugar, butter and baking powder in Rome.  Don't know about pineapples though!

  5. Yes, they have the dry box version and they also have a ready-made 'wet' mix in the cold food section of the supermarket - Brandnames : Buitoni and also Camel.
