  1. yes, you can, they have a remnant section in the carpet dept with all sizes and kinds...very good prices also.

  2. Any Shaw dealer will give you any size you request and have it bound.

It cost me about 250.00 for a 10x12 patterned pile

  3. I've never bought one at Home Depot or Lowe's.

I would suggest going to a flooring store.  They will have carpet remnants that you can use as an area rug.  They will also be able to bind the edges for you, if your particular remnant requires that.  The cost for binding the edges usually runs about $2 per linear foot.

**Edit:  I just remembered that Home Depot and Lowe's both DO sell carpet remnants.  They're usually already cut to a standard rug size.  The problem is that their selection is usually quite poor.  I'd still suggest a flooring store.

  4. Yes, you can choose from rolls of carpet and have it cut to size. I have a friend working at Lowes in the flooring department and he's done this for lots of customers.

  5. Anyplace that installs carpet usually has scraps leftover from big jobs.  The thing is, they do different things with the scraps.  Call Lowes and Home Depot and any carpet place in town to see what they do with their scraps.  And, if you want to make a rug out of it, ask if they can "bind" it for you to finish off the edges (for a fee, of course).

  6. Yes and I found one at WalMart.
