i buy phone cards  i buy one for $3.00 and get 3h and 20min   i like to ues phone cards and its not alot of money to talk a lot

I use Yahoo Call Out in both directions.   About 2 cents (us) a minute international

Lots of different ways to do it.  You can use services like Skype, or if the person you're calling in Mexico has a Vonage set-up (what most of the expats here in Torreon have), the person calling from the US will most likely be able to dial a local number that the family in Mexico has set-up.  If you're going to be making frequent calls to a specific family here, it is well worth it for both to investigate options and set-up something that is inexpensive for both parties.  There are also call-back services and, naturally, you can use pre-purchased phone cards as well.
