  1. You can turn elements into liquids, gases, or solids (phases of matter). Centuries ago, people called alchemists tried to change elements into other elements, like lead into gold. They failed. But in modern times we know that you can change one element into another, but with great difficulty. By using nuclear fusion and fission, we can turn hydrogen into helium, uranium into bismuth, etc. I hope this clears your confusion a bit about atoms and elements.

  2. Turning an element into a liquid is what is called a phase change. It does nothing more then give the atoms in the solid more liberty, allowing them to move and hence becomming a liquid.

To actually change one element into another is a nuclear process. In other words to change lead (Pb) into gold (Au) for example you need to bombard the nucleus and remove some protons. In other words you need to change the atomic number.

It would be impossible to turn an element (such as copper for example) into a liquid then have it turn into aluminum.

  3. Yes to turning it into the liquid, but you would need to bombard this atom with particles to strip its nucleus of neutrons, protons, to make a new mass number and/or atomic number. Or you could do fusion
